Abstract

PK88824 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Dynacache gets are excessively synchronized causing thread lock outs during high load

LOCAL FIX:
none

PROBLEM SUMMARY

USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server using dynacache.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Performance of dynacache get operations in high volume environments is diminished.

RECOMMENDATION:
None

In order to protect the cache instance dynacache uses synchronized blocks to allow synchronous access to get operations. This synchronization is excessive and severely slows down dynacache users during a stress situation.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Excessive synchronization has been eliminated to allow get operations to perform at a more acceptable level.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.0.2.39, 6.1.0.29, and 7.0.0.7. Please refer to the
