Error description

  • This APAR will address the following problems:
    1) If an IMS Connect Port task abends, CEX module CEXEXRTR may
also abend with 0C4 and R6 pointing to storage that has been
freed. This is because CEX has been notified of the jobstep
abend and is shutting down. There is a small window where an
IMS Connect Port task may still be dispatched and encounter
the storage that was freed during CEX shutdown.
    2) MSGCEX5538E running the Definition Maintenance Utility if the
       host name cannot be verified.
    3) MSGCEX5540E received when the CEX repository resides on
       another SYSPLEX.
    4) MSGCEX5538E and MSGCEX5540E should be changed to
       warnings.
    5) MSGCEX5006E ERROR DETECTED, RC0010 , RSN040D0327 during
       IMS Connect startup.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CEXEXRTR reg6 points to storage that *
    *                      has been freed.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    1. If an IMS Connect Port task abends, CEX module CEXEXRTR
may also abend with 0C4 and R6 pointing to storage
that has been freed. This is because CEX has been notified
of the jobstep abend and is shutting down. There is a
small window where an IMS Connect Port task may still be
dispatched and encounter the storage that was freed during
    CEX shutdown.
    2. Running the Definition Maintenance Utility,message CEX5538E
if the host name cannot be verified and message CEX5540E
if the archive JCL dataset is not catalogued.
    3. Message CEX5006E during IMS Connect Startup If HWSCFG= is
located in a continuation of the PARM values in second
    JCL line.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. Module CEXMAIN is changed to not free any control blocks
that may be needed by CEXEXRTR. Since the region is in
termination, the storage for the control block will be
    freed during region termination.
    2. A new processing option is made available that will allow
messages of this type to be ignored so that utility
    processing can proceed.
    3. Corrected the parsing routine in CEXTECL to find the
HWSCFG= keyword when it is located in a second
continuation line of the PARM= string
