PK94148: LOOP IN IPI4PROC WHEN FLUSHING TRANSACTIONS FOR HIGH WATER MARK (HWM) PROCESSING

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • HWM processing ignores the currently active transaction; we
don't want to flush our active task. But if the next entry on
the queue is not a transaction (i.e. Response or Ancilliary
record) then the originating transaction can be null, which
causes this record to be ignored, but we do not advance the
    transaction pointers.

    ****************************************************************
Loop in IPI4PROC when flushing transactions for high water
    mark (HWM) processing.
    HWM processing ignores the currently active transaction;
we don't want to flush our active task. But if the next
entry on the queue is not a transaction (i.e. Response
or Ancilliary record) then the originating transaction
can be null, which causes this record to be ignored, but
we do not advance the transaction pointers.

Problem conclusion

  • If the currently active transaction is encountered in HWM
processing, ensure that we advance the transaction pointers
to the next valid transaction record to be flushed.
