Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 9 for z/OS users of REORG STATISTICS *
*                 on a partitioned table space.                *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Real-time statistics (RTS) incorrect    *
*                      after partition level REORG STATISTICS  *
*                      jobs are run in parallel.               *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available.         *
****************************************************************
Two REORG STATISTICS jobs ran on different partitions of a
partitioned table space in parallel. A routine specific to
RUNSTATS utility was called, causing the incorrect values to be
generated for the column TOTALROWS in the RTS table
SYSIBM.SYSTABLESPACESTATS.

The same error can occur for the LOAD STATISTICS utility.

Problem conclusion

  • REORG and LOAD have been modified to not invoke the internal
routine for the inline statistics case.
