APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • This APAR includes the following changes:
    - Allocate new HPSRILEA/B for each partition (with the same
primary/secondary space quantity as original ILDS).
    - Allocate HPSRILEA/B with the same number of volumes as the
    original ILDS.
(Even if the number of volumes is less than 5, HP Load will
expand it up to 5 volumes.)

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance Load *
    *                 for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 (FMID=H1IM210). *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABENDB37 for HPSRILEA DD or HPSRILEB DD *
    * when using ILDSBLD=YES,DSPR and the DDs *
    *                      are allocated dynamically.              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
ABENDB37 might occur for HPSRILEA DD or HPSRILEB DD when using
ILDSBLD=YES,DSPR and the primary space amount for ILDS is less
    than the actual size.
This APAR includes the following changes for dynamic allocation
    of HPSRILEA/B:
    - Allocate new HPSRILEA/B for each partition
    - Allocate HPSRILEA/B with volume-count=10
    - Allocate HPSRILEA/B with adjusting space amount as follows:
      - If the high used RBA of ILDS is greater than the primary
space amount, the equivalent amount is specified as the
        primary space amount.
      - If the secondary space amount is less than 1/5 of the high
used RBA of ILDS, the equivalent amount is specified as the
        secondary space amount.
      - If the primary or secondary space amount of ILDS is less
than 100 cylinders, 100 cylinder is used as the space
        amount.

Problem conclusion

  • HP Load has been modified to reduce the chance of ABENDB37 for
HPSRILEA DD or HPSRILEB DD when using ILDSBLD=YES,DSPR and
    HPSRILEA/B are allocated dynamically.

These data sets are used by DFSORT, as substitute for SORTIN
data sets, when ILDSBLD=YES,DSPR is specified.
If you do not specify the statement, the data sets are allocated
dynamically with sizes estimated on the basis of the allocation
    size of ILDS.
    | To avoid space problem caused by extension of the data sets,
    | the size estimation is adjusted as follows:
    | If the high used RBA of ILDS is greater than the primary
    | space amount, the equivalent amount is specified as the
    | primary space amount.
    | If the secondary space amount is less than 1/5 of the high
    | used RBA of ILDS, the equivalent amount is specified as
    | the secondary space amount.
    | If the primary or secondary space amount of ILDS is less
    | than 100 cylinders, 100 cylinder is used as the space
    | amount.
    | The data set is allocated with volume count so that it can
    | be extended on up to 10 volumes.
A dummy data set or the DISP=MOD parameter cannot be specified
    on the HPSRILEA/HPSRILEB DD statement.

For more information of SORTIN data sets, see DFSORT Application
    Programming Guide.
