APAR status

Error description

• When an extended mode ECI request does not complete
  successfully (possibly due to security reasons) before the CICS
  mirror transaction is attached, the IPIC session is not freed.
  Multiple failed extended mode ECI requests can cause all
  configured sessions for the IPIC connection to be allocated,
  resulting in ECI_ERR_RESOURCE_SHORTAGE being returned for
  subsequent ECI requests.

  When an extended mode ECI request over IPIC fails to start the
  Distributed Program Link (DPL) within a CICS server, the IPIC
  session is not released. When all IPIC sessions have been
  allocated, further requests to that CICS server fail with an
  ECI_ERR_RESOURCE_SHORTAGE.
  

Problem conclusion

• The CICS TG has been corrected. Extended mode ECI requests that
  do not start a DPL free the IPIC session as required.
