"User xxx already logged in to this database" caused by opening a spreadsheet in 'Protected View' mode

Problem

Inside the 'main' Controller client, user clicks 'Company ->data entry - reported value'. User chooses parameters, and sends the report to Excel. - This opens one excel.exe *32 in task manager. User then opens an Excel-link spreadsheet (XLSX file) from an 'untrusted' location (for example Outlook). - Protected view warning showing in banner area. This creates second excel.exe *32 in task manager. Next, the user clicks 'Company ->data entry - reported value' again to launch data entry form. - Error occurs "User xxx already logged in to this database"

Symptom


"User xxx already logged in to this database" caused by second excel.exe *32 process running due to open an external Excel file which is in protection mode.
