Problem
When requested to create a System Dump based on the Cognos Analytics Java, there often is a recommendation to use the Operating System's System Dump facilities.
On Linux, AIX or Solaris these may not be available to the user due to a package not being installed, or user permissions. There is an included method to create a Java System Dump using a command provided by the bundled Websphere Liberty Profile.
Symptom
A Java System Dump has been requested by IBM Cognos Support or Development. Often this would be due to the Cognos Analytics' java processes seemingly hanging, concerning memory usage or CPU utilization.
