PM37193: LAUNCHPAD COMMAND STRING FOR DB2 OBJECT COMPARE TOOL FOR Z/OS PANEL GOCMENU FAILS

APAR status

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS User's Guide section:
  .
  2.2.2.1.1 "Using the dialog method to add tools to the Launchpad
            table"
  .
  contains Fig. 18, "Launchpad Entry panel (ADBDMTI)", which
  contains a command string:
  .
   Command   : DISPLAY PANEL (GOCMENU)
  .
  to invoke the first panel of DB2 Object Compare Tool for z/OS.
  .
  Though the GOCMENU panel is displayed, the OC tool will not
  work properly when invoked in this manner from Launchpad.
  Selection of any OC options returns to start panels ADBDMT .
  

Local fix

• Use same command string as specified for Admin Tool, then use
  option C from Admin main panel, ADB2 , to start the OC Tool.

  *                      incorrect command:                      *

  *                      However, after selecting the            *
  *                      above entry from Launchpad,             *
  *                      the GOCMENU panel is displayed,         *
  *                      but the DB2 Object Comparison           *
  *                      Tool will not work properly.            *
  *                      Selecting any options on panel          *
  *                      GOCMENU will return to the start        *
  *                      panel ADBDMT.                           *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  In the "Adding tools to the Launchpad" topic of the DB2
  Administration Tool for z/OS User's Guide, the figure titled
  "Launchpad Entry panel (ADBDMTI)" shows an entry for the DB2
  Object Comparison Tool in Launchpad which does not work.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved.  In the "Adding tools
  to the Launchpad" topic of the DB2 Administration Tool
  for z/OS User's Guide, the figure titled "Launchpad Entry
  panel (ADBDMTI) has been updated with the correct command.
  
  The wrong command specified before the fix:

  The correct command after the fix:

  Command   : SELECT MODE(FSCR) CMD(%ADB PANEL(GOCMENU))
