PM34981: ALT PANEL FLOW AND MISSING ALTER STATEMENTS WHEN AMENDING IDENTITY COLUMN ATTRIBUTES

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS ALT function does not
  built the needed ALTER statements needed to ALTER the attributes
  of an IDENTITY column.

  *                      an identity column results in the error *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  For table objects that have an identity column, a change in the
  START value for an identity column results in the error message:
  
  '(E)Attempted change of field START for identity column is not
  supported.  Change ignored'.
  

Problem conclusion

• Support for changes in the START value for an identity column
  by generating the statement ALTER TABLE..RESTART WITH (new
  START value) has been added.
  
  The following warning message will be issued:
  
  Warning: Change in the START value can lead to duplicates of
  values generated previously.
