PM34182: ENHANCEMENT FOR DUMP PROCESSING WHEN MESSAGE FPEV3013E IS ISSUEDFOR TIMEOUT

Error description

• APAR PM21372 added a timestamp to message FPEV3013E to
  assist in correlating timeouts to other events in the
  system.
  
  This APAR adds the ability to force a dump immediately when EPTT
  (elapsed processing time) for the OMPE to DB2 ifi interface
  exceeds a threshold.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: With APAR PM21372 diagnostics was       *
  *                      introduced to help analyse a timeout in *
  *                      the DB2 interface task of the PE Server *
  *                      subtask. When the diagnostics is set up *
  *                      to dump the DB2 address spaces in case  *
  *                      the elapsed processing time exceeds the *
  *                      specified threshold, the dump is taken  *
  *                      when the DB2 interface becomes          *
  *                      dispatched again. Depending on the size *
  *                      of the system trace table the entries   *
  *                      of interest might already have been     *
  *                      overwritten at that point in time.      *

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  Detection of a slow down in the response from the DB2
  instrumentation interface is performed in the DB2 interface task
  of the monitoring PE Server subtask after response from DB2 is
  received. This point in time is too late to preserve the
  relevant diagnostic data because the slow down condition might
  have been vanished in between.
  
  
  PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
  The main module of the PE Server subtask now checks the elapsed
  processing time for the DB2 interface task and initiates the
  dump if the specified threshold is exceeded.
