Error description

  • - IMS V12 added new event records, IMS Connect type 1 commands,
and IMS Connect configuration member keywords.
    - An ABEND0C4 can occur when the CEX trace is active and the
amount of data to trace is 2 bytes or less than the CEX trace
buffer. The abend occurs in module CEXTECL.
    - If the ISPF session has underscore turned off for input
fields, the Operations System view panel and associated help
    - A loop in module CEXEXRTR can occur in an IMS Connect V910
      system when using routing.
    - Characters in column 72 of BPECFG member can result in
following keywords - values being ignored.
    - In the ISPF definition dialog, using the "S defname" command
on the definition list command line to select a definition
for edit causes incorrect definition description to be used.
can be confusing because two fields appear to be a single
      field.
    - Provide a new security feature when CEX is providing security
for IMS Connect. This feature allows securing access to the
IMS Connect region based upon the IP address of the remote
      client.
    - The CEX batch command utility does not support refreshing the
security rules used for CEX security.
    - If Advanced Function is active, but event collection is
inactive, CEX security checking is not performed for IMS
      Connect message exit HWSJAVA0.
    Additional symptoms:
FUN2211I Syntax error at line 101: the input MSC is not a known
    command
FUN2211I Syntax error at line 122: the input RMTIMSCON is not a
    known command

This APAR is addressing the following:
    1. Abend 0C4 in HWS Port task in module CEXTECL doing MVCL
    instruction.
    2. If the ISPF session has underscore turned off for input
fields, the Operations System view panel and associated help
can be confusing because two fields appear to be a single
    field.
    3. Provide a new security feature when CEX is providing
security for IMS Connect. This feature allows securing
access to the IMS Connect region based upon the IP address
    of the remote client.
    4. If Advanced Function is active, but event collection is
inactive CEX security checking is not performed for IMS Connect
    message exit HWSJAVA0.
    5. Provide support for the new event records in IMS V12.
    6. An 0C4 can occur in module CEXTECL when the CEX trace is
active and the output message returned by the message exit XMIT
routine is 2 bytes or less than the size of the trace buffer.
    7. A loop in module CEXEXRTR can occur in a V910 IMS Connect
    system when using routing.
    8. Characters in column 72 of BPECFG member can result in
    following keywords/values being ignored.
    9. In the ISPF definitions dialog, using the "S defname"
command on the definition list command line to select a
definition for edit causes incorrect definition description
    to be used.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. An abend 0C4 can occur in CEXTECL when CEX tracing is active
and the inbound message is exactly the length of the trace
buffer. The amount of trace buffer calculation is incorrect
causing the MVCL length to go negative and this results in
a storage overlay and likely 0C4.
    2. Change the design of the Operations Systems panel to make
it clearer that these are two input fields instead of one
when underscore is turned off for input fields.
    3. Provide the ability to setup RACF or other security system
profiles that protect IPV4 or IPV6 IP addresses a remote
client might use to gain access to the IMS Connect system.
CEX will verify that the UID associated with the input
transaction is authorized to use the IMS Connect system
based upon it's input IP address.
    4. Changed module CEXTECL to provide the information necessary
for security checking for message exit HWSJAVA0 event if CEX
    event collection is inactive.
    5. Support is added for the new event IMS Connect event records
provided in IMS V12. This is early support and limited to the
    new event records.
    6. Corrected the CEXTECL MSGTRC routine to detect the condition
where the output message is within 2 bytes of the length of the
trace buffer and prevent the abend
    7. The V910 XIB is much different than the V10 or later XIB and
CEX was not properly determining that the execution version was
V910 and this caused a loop trying to check the status of
datastores. A change has been made to properly detect a
V910 system and use the proper XIB definitions for status
    checking.
    8. Changed parser to correctly handle characters in column 72
    of the BPECFG member.
    9. Changed ISPF dialog to use the correct definition
description when "S defname" used on the definition list
command line to select a definition for editing.
