Error description

  • This problem will happen in both QMF V9 and QMF V10 DSQ1BPKG
(binding packages) to a DB2 V10 conversion mode from V8 system
with database signature DSN10010 and DSN10011.

The problem is a RC8 on DSQ1BPKG with the SQL code -4700 on
various packages.

*                 DB2 for z/OS Version 10 subsystem running in *
*                 'conversion mode from Version 8'.            *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users running the QMF installation job  *
*                      DSQ1BPKG may experience a RC8 job       *
*                      completion code with SQL code -4700     *
*                      (SQLCODE4700) on packages DSQGFSQX,     *
*                      DSQGFSUX, DSQGPSQX for QMF Version 10   *
*                      and DSQFFSQX for QMF Version 10. This   *
*                      error will only happen running the      *
*                      DSQ1BPKG job in a DB2 for z/OS          *
*                      Version 10 system running in            *
*                      conversion mode from Version 8.         *

* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

QMF installation job DSQ1BPKG had not taken into account that
DB2 for z/OS Version 10 running in conversion mode from Version
8 does not support any DB2 for z/OS Version 9 new function mode
enhancements. All QMF packages enabled for DB2 support lower
than Version 10 were being bound which was not correct.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • QMF installation job DSQ1BPKG which uses logic from DSQ1BPKB
exec was corrected to treat DB2 for z/OS Version 10 running in
conversion mode from Version 8 as a DB2 for z/OS Version 8
database and will bind packages accordingly.  Updates were also
made for DB2 for z/OS Version 10 running in conversion mode from
Version 9.
