Error description

  • When using Scan Scheduler within AppScan Standard 8.0, the user
gets 'wrong user password' when entering in the login
credentials, despite the login credentials being correct. This
only happens on a Windows 2008 Server machine.

The current workaround is to manually create the scheduled task
using Windows Task Scheduler in Windows Server 2008:

    a. Go to Control Panel ? Administrative Tools ? Task Scheduler.
    b. Once it is open, go to Create Task.
    c. In General Tab, fill in the Name of the task, then select
'Run only when user is logged on'.
    d. In Triggers Tab, fill in the time date of the scheduled
    scans.
    e. In Actions tab, go to 'New', then ensure the following:
      Action: Start a program
      Program/script: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational
    AppScan\AppScanScheduler.exe
      Add argument (optional):
    'C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\test.scan'
Start in (optional): C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Rational
    AppScan

The problem we found seems to apply to other OSs too, but
starts from the second scheduled scan only.

If scheduled tasks contain at least one task AppScan doesn't
allow the adding of another one, returning the error "wrong
    user password".

Problem conclusion

  • We were able to reproduce similar behavior on an XP machine,
which we fixed. This fix also solved the reported 2008
    problem.
