Error description

  • AppScan crashes when AppScan browser is launched (ie. click
    'Record' login sequence button or 'Manual Explore' button).
    
    Windows UI shows error dialog. When this dialog is closed
    AppScan disappears.

    The issue was observed with Windows 7 and MS Office IME 2010,
    Windows Vista and MS Office IME 2007 for both AppScan Standard
    v7.9.x and AppScan Standard v8.
    It has not seen with AppScan Standard v7.9.x on Windows XP even
    with MS Office IME 2010.
    Currently, only confirmed on Japanese OS.

    On Japanese Windows 7 and Vista operating systems, where
    Office 2010/2007 Japanese and IME are installed, and the
    default language is set to Microsoft Office IME, AppScan may
    crash when the AppScan browser opens (for recorded login,
    manual explore etc.). The workaround is to change the
    default language before launching the browser.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Based on the information we have it seems that this issue is
    due to a problem in either Office IME or in the OS.
