    This issue is fix in APAR PM21317 for R910.
    ABEND0C4 in DSNX9MON+0A9C may occur due to buffer not allocated
    during dsnxinit when ceepipi load fails

Local fix

  • A circumvention to avoid this abend is to set the LEMAX
    zparm value to a value higher than ZERO. Setting LEMAX
    to zero disables LE environment usage by DB2, and has a
    consequence of disabling certain built-in functions that
    DB2 provides, like UPPER , LOWER , COS , etc. The reason
    for this abend was that LEMAX was zero.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 9 and DB2 10 for z/OS users with     *
    *                 zparm LEMAX = 0.                             *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND0C4-38 in DSNSVSFB or ABEND0C4-10  *
    *                      in DSNX9MON may occur when the DB2      *
    * subsystem is being stopped and zparm *
    *                      LEMAX is 0.                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The abend occurs during stop DB2 if zparm LEMAX has been set to
    zero. DB2 does not initialize LE and set up its buffers if
    LEMAX is zero. During stop DB2, the cleanup of LE abends because
    it has not been set up.

    With the fix provided in this APAR, the skipped initialization
    is tolerated during DB2 stop.

    Changing LEMAX to some non-zero value will also work around the
    abend.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was changed to tolerate the case when LEMAX is 0 during DB2
    stop.
