    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The following abend may occur on a DB2 *
    *                      9 for z/OS server when a remote client  *
    *                      fetches from a cursor:                  *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A DB2 9 for z/OS server receives a DRDA fetch request against
    an open cursor from a remote client. The DRDA fetch request
    contains an invalid DRDA identifier (DRDA QRYINSID) for the
    cursor. Instead of detecting and rejecting the request, DB2
    continues to process the fetch and hits the reported ABEND04E
    RC00D3440B LOC=DSNLXLLM.DSNLXCQ7:03E7.
    This problem only applies to DB2 9 for z/OS.

Problem conclusion

  • DB2 server code has been changed to detect an invalid DRDA
    identifier (DRDA QRYINSID) on DRDA fetch requests, terminate
    fetch processing, and reply to the client that the cursor is
    not open.
