Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO/CICS V9.1 and V10.1 users * * who run QMF in CICS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: QMF running under CICS issued * * MSGDSQ90580 'z/OS XML Parse Service * * module GXL1TRM could not be loaded.' * * even if module GXL1TRM was in the MVS * * linklist. Users could eliminate this * * message only if SYS1.CSSLIB (which * * contains GXL1TRM) was placed in the * * DFHRPL concatenation and a CICS program * * definition was defined. The same * * situation existed for GXL1PRS, GXL1TRM * * and CUNLCNV. Messages MSGDSQ90577, * * MSGDSQ90578, MSGDSQ90579 could also * * have been seen. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** QMF performed an explicit load for the Unicode conversion and XML parsing modules CUNLCNV, GXL1INI, GXL1PRS, and GXL1TRM under both TSO and CICS. If QMF explicitly loads modules, it requires a CICS program definition and that the modules be found in the DFHRPL concatenation; if these conditions were not met, message DSQ90577, DSQ90578, DSQ90579, or DSQ90580 was issued.
Problem conclusion
QMF will no longer perform explicit loads for the 4 Unicode and XML parser modules. Since SYS1.CSSLIB, in which the 4 Unicode and XML parser modules are found, is required to be in the link list, it is not necessary for SYS1.CSSLIB to also be placed in the DFHRPL concatenation. Thus, CICS program definitions for these modules are also not necessary. QMF will no longer require users to configure their systems in this manner. To avoid abends if the Unicode and XML conversion environment is not in place, QMF will check z/OS system entry points for these modules to determine whether a valid environment exists prior to making calls. QMF still requires that a Unicode environment and XML parsing modules be in place in order to execute EXPORT and IMPORT commands against XML data or using the XML data format.
