Error description
Using Japanese characters in the installation directory when installing CICS Transaction Gateway on a Windows platform causes the batch files used by the installer to fail with messages stating "Can not find the path specified" (in Japanese). Messages are not displayed when CICS TG utilities are run.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the CICS Transaction Gateway * * on Multiplatforms. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a DBCS character is specified in * * the install path when installing CICS * * Transaction Gateway on a Windows * * system configured to use Japanese * * (code page MS932), the installation * * completes but the message files are * * corrupted. This results in blank * * messages in the log file and when * * CICS TG utilities are run. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The CICS TG installer writes the affected batch files in UTF-8 rather than using the system encoding. This causes the install path used by those files to contain incorrect characters. This prevents the batch files from installing the correct messages.
Problem conclusion
CICS Transaction Gateway has been changed so that the batch files are written using the system encoding, which does not introduce incorrect characters into the install path when DBCS characters are used. The resulting batch files run correctly, copying the correct message files to the install location.
