Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IBM WebSphere Application Server * * versions 8.0 and 8.5. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A change in the JVM requires a change * * to the OSGi Application Blueprint * * Service. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The JVM that ships with 8.5.0.1 and 8.0.0.5 has been upgraded to a version which has a security fix. This fix limits the context in which a constructor can be called from a class which causes a regression in the OSGi Application runtime proxying code. This APAR is preventative maintenance, but it is possible to encounter a java.lang.VerifyError invokespecial wrong initializer exception if using a newer JDK maintenance than that of the base WebSphere Application Server installation.
Problem conclusion
The fix modifies the runtime proxying code to avoid calling constructors in the context now limited by the JVM. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.0.1 and 8.0.0.5.
