Program will rewrite to the version file to store the version
record count in the header of the version file. If the version
resides on the tape / 'removable media' / 'CART'/ or '3480'
    device, the rewrite will fail.

Problem conclusion

  • New DD GENVERI is added to the GEN step to store the version
record count if the version file resides on the tape device or
other device that does not support REWRITE.

New DD DTCVERI is added to the GOC2DTC step to store the
version record count if the version file resides on the tape
device or other device that does not support REWRITE.

New DD BASEVERI is added to MERGE step to give the version
record count if the version file resides on the tape device
or other device that does not support REWRITE.

New DD SRCVERI and TGTVERI are added to give the version
record count if the version file resides on the tape device or
other device that does not support REWRITE.

    Three new messages are added:

ADB1195I The >version file name< could not be updated
    to store the record count.

Explanation: The record count could not be updated in
    >version file name<.
System action: The record count is >record count< and
has been written to the >file name< temporary file for using
    later in this job.
    User response: None.

ADB1196W The >version file name< DD file can be updated to
record the estimated number of records.
The >file name< DD file, which is an alternate location to
store the record count, is not defined or fails to store the
    record count.

Explanation: The >version file name< cannot be updated to
record the estimated number of records. The >file name< DD
file, which is an alternate location to store the record count,
is not defined or fails to store the record count. Using the
    >version file name< DD file in other processes can sometimes
cause the sort process to underestimate the number of records
in the file, which can lead to errors due to insufficient sort
    work file sizes.
    System action: None.
User response: If >file name< DD is not defined, it is
recommended that you generate the job again. If >file name<
DD fails to store the record count, it is recommended that
you fix the data set problem and try again.

ADB7104I The >file name< DD file is not defined which can
lead to errors due to insufficient sort work file size.

Explanation: The >file name< DD file, which is an alternate
location to store the record count, is not defined. Using the
    >version file name< DD file in this process can sometimes
cause the sort process to underestimate the number of records
in the file, which can lead to errors due to insufficient sort
work file sizes. If >version file name< DD is not defined, it
is recommended that you generate the job again. This message is
just for the version file which is created by GEN or DTC. If
the version file is created from change management, ignore this
    information.
    System action: None.
User response: If >version file name< DD is not defined, it is
recommended that you generate the job again.
