Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for *
    * z/OS who use work statement lists (WSL). *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When viewing or editing a WSL, restart *
    * markers are added to show the user *
    *                      where ADBTEP2 checkpoints take place    *
    * in a WSL. These restart markers are *
    * NOT put into the generated batch jobs *
    *                      for WSL.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When viewing or editing a WSL, restart markers are added to
    show the user where ADBTEP2 checkpoints take place in a WSL.
    These restart markers are NOT put into the generated batch
    jobs for WSL.

Problem conclusion

  • After applying this fix, batch jobs generated from WSL will
    now show restart markers to aid the user in restarting a WSL.
    Here is an example from of a WSL generated to JCL:

    //SYSIN    DD DATA,DLM='@@'
    ADMIN COPY TEMPLATE copytemplate_name
      DSN
    &US..&DB..&SN..COPY1
    ;
    -- Created by userid timestamp
    -- Generated by apply exec by userid timestamp
    --#RESTART 1                        <-------- now appears
    -STA DB(dbname) SPACE(tsname)  ACCESS(RO);
    --#RESTART 2                        <-------- now appears
