Error description

  • When the Management Exception report is requested with an
interval reporting option, the total transaction counter in the
SYSTEM line is incorrect. In this case, PRINTAT option was
    used.
The Management Exception report does not reset its aggregation
area after each report interval, resulting in incorrect results.

Note: While the PRINTAT option is still available in IMS PA
reporting, it is a hang over from the original PARS
reporting and its use is not recommended as it can
produce distorted results. The recommended way is to use
form-based Summary reporting with the INTERVAL option to
obtain the desired result. The only qualification is that
form-based reporting does not support Expectation Sets
which the Management Exception report does.

The Management Exception report does not reset its aggregation
area after each report interval, resulting in incorrect results.

Problem conclusion

  • 1. Reset aggregation area after each report iteration.
    2. While the PRINTAT option is still available in IMS PA
reporting, it is a hangover from the original PARS reporting
and its use is not recommended as it can produce distorted
results. The recommended way is to use form-based Summary
reporting with the INTERVAL option to obtain the desired
result. The only qualification is that form-based reporting
does not support Expectation Sets which the Management
    Exception report does.
    3. The IMS PA architect will be producing a white-paper
concerning this issue to accompany the APAR.
