Error description

  • When running a TWSz controller task (any release) under
z/OS 1.13 or higher, and using the OPCOPTS parameter
    RECOVERY(YES), an abendS66D ( 66D - 31 ) is seen in the
    controller.
Checking the dump, the abend is at IGX00027+150 on a call to
TSO STACK service. Abend S66D-31 means a TSO/E service that
    requires a TSO/E environment was invoked in a non-TSO/E
    environment.
    .
Program EQQZMSGT + x'266', invokes the CALLTSSR macro to call
the STACK service, which causes an immediate failure
in IGX00027+x'150' - where an ABEND66D-31 is issued because this
    is not a TSO environment.
    .
The same code worked correctly in z/OS 1.12 and lower.
The abend can be taken even with RECOVERY(NO) coded
    .

    ****************************************************************
A system abend 66D with RC=31 can occur at start time of a TWSz
    started task on a z/OS 1.13 system.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem occurs because the TSO checks the LWALWA field
    that should contain the value '   LWA  ';
since the TWSz builds its own LWA area, this field was not
filled in with the above value.
