Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: HiPPI users with large packets. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Packets of 32768 or greater are not *
    * processed by TCP/IP. The maximum size *
    * for buffers is set in TCBASTY at 32K *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When TCP/IP receives a packet of >32K or larger it will cause a
    RESET. The maximum packet is set in the TCBASTY definitions at
    32768.

Problem conclusion

  • Rather than just allowing for the documented 32K packets this
    APAR fix will provide for up to 65535 byte packets. That will
    satisfy this problem in the same way as the fix for PN73460 is
    to satisfy the requirement for HiPPI.

Temporary fix

  • Customer testing required for 65535.
