  The XIO transport protocal can experience timeouts when
  handling large messages. JREs have, for the most part, a 16
  size limit on arrays of buffers due to historical IOV_MAX
  values on Solaris. This results in long delays when trying to
  read thousands of buffers in a single message, such
  as exchanges of cache keys.
  

Problem conclusion

• The buffer handling code has been converted to consolidate
  large numbers of buffers into smaller arrays of larger sized
  buffers. This allows the IO (reads and writes) to complete
  much faster than previously possible.  This change is
  available in eXtreme Scale v8.6.0.4 and higher.
