Error description

  • An ABEND S0C4 may occur when executing the QUIESCE utility
requested in the LOG-APPLY COPY command. The number of
tablespace may be hundreds or more. Fewer tablespaces and the
    ABEND does not occur.

The new UTILITY-COMMAND-EXECUTE-PERCENT SET command allows users
to specify that all spaces eligible for a particular DB2 utility
not be executed with a single call to that utility. For example,
if there are 500 tablespace eligible for QUIESE, all 500 are
submitted in the same utility call. With the
UTILITY-COMMAND-EXECUTE-PERCENT command, a percent of the total
datasets or objects from 1 to 50 can be submitted with a single
    utility call. For example if
    UTILITY-COMMAND-EXECUTE-PERCENT(20), then five QUIESCE calls
would be submitted with 100 tablespaces each. The default is one
utility call for all eligible spaces. Currently only the QUIESCE
command submitted for log apply is using the new command.

Local fix

  • Use the JOB-TEMPLATE command to create a set of QUIESCE commands
and execute them after the source job has completed.
