Is there a method to automatically get notified if a Staging Tables job fails?

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer is importing data from staging tables. Most of the time, it works OK. However, sometimes the import fails (for example if a different user is accessing the same form at the same time). The superuser can check if the staging tables import was successfully, by manually However, is there an automatic method (to be automatically notified) which would create an alert (to a user) if a staging tables import failed?

Symptom

Imagine a scenario where:

1. User triggers an import of data from staging tables

2. Afterwards, user opens the 'Log' menu

3. User clicks on 'External Data' and locates the relevant job:

  • User notices that all the rows (that were read) were discarded

=> Clearly something went wrong with the import.

4. To understand why, user opens the log:

Inside the log, there are lots of entries relating to the cause of the problem, for example:
    47 - The form containing the account is locked for update

===================================
Clearly there is some manual work involved in checking if a staging tables import ran OK (no errors).
  • Is there an easier method to be automatically notified when a problem occurred in the import?
