APAR status

Error description

  • One or more terminal users perform an escape sequence and ISM
appears to hang.  System shows high cpu for the ISM started
task.  A dump shows the terminal task for the LU which
performed the escape in a dispatch loop after a 0813 Begin
Bracket Reject sense code.

Due to a logic error, large input screen buffers were causing
key internal control blocks to be left marked as unavailable.
This caused the system to slow down, as less and less of these
control blocks were left to deal with the system activity.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic error causing the key internal control blocks to be
marked as unavailable has been corrected.
