Possible memory leak in 5.3.1.5 firmware release

Troubleshooting

Problem

XGS firmware 5.3.1.5's communication library contains a memory leak that can impact the following processes: iss-lum, mesa_spad, mesa_eventsd.

Symptom

This memory leak occurs slowly and it may not be immediately noticeable. If the XGS appliance memory utilization becomes higher than 90% and is still increasing, a maintenance window should be scheduled to restart the appliance as the appliance will automatically restart if it runs out of memory.

Please note that the built-in ports and most NIMs (excluding SFPs) have a built-in hardware bypass that can be configured to avoid packet loss upon reboot of the appliance.

More information on how to configure this hardware bypass is available at the IBM Knowledge Center.
