Error description
If CPSM resource definitions are not successful in EYU9NXLM, control may return to CICS with incorrect data in the restored registers. This may lead to an S0C7 abend in another resource manager module later during CICS initialization. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V5R1M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If CPSM resource definitions are not * * successfully created at MAS agent * * initialization by program EYU9NXLM * * (MASes and WUI servers) or program * * EYU9NXRM (SMSS systems), control may * * return to CICS with incorrect data in * * the restored registers. This may lead * * to an S0C7 abend in another resource * * manager program later during CICS * * initialization. * * * * When this occurs, any combination of * * the following messages can occur: * * * * EYUNX0014E (all) * * EYUNX0022E (MAS or WUI server only) * * EYUNX0039E (SMSS only) * * EYUNX0101E (all) * * EYUNX0102E (all) * * EYUNX0103E (all) * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all MASes, WUI servers and SMSS * * systems must be restarted. Note that the * * restarts do not need to occur at the same * * time. * **************************************************************** When MAS agent initialization starts in a MAS, WUI server or SMSS system, EYU9NXLM (NXLM - MAS or WUI server) or EYU9NXRM (NXRM - SMSS) is called to build the CICS definitions required for the system to run as a MAS. If NXLM or NXRM correctly builds the CICS definitions, they call program EYU9NXSM (NXSM) to continue initialization. Prior to calling NXSM, they save general registers 12 (R12 - CICS EIB address) and 13 (R13 - CICS EIS address). Upon return from NXSM, they branch to a common exit routine, which restores the registers and then returns to CICS. If a problem occurs during the build of the CICS definitions, instead of calling NXSM, NXLM and NXRM issue a combination of the messages listed above, and then branch to the common exit routine, where they restore R12 and R13, and return to CICS. However, since NXSM was never called, the contents of R12 and R13 were never saved into the area they are restored from. This results in R12 and R13 not containing the CICS EIB and EIS addresses upon return to CICS, which can result in the documented error.
Problem conclusion
NXLM and NXRM have been updated to only restore R12 and R13 if they call NXSM.
