Error description
On Central Server 2, CPU utilization reaches 100% and is not responsive. To get services back running, CS2 needs to be rebooted. To resolve this issue, recommendation is to bump Memory for CS2 to 24G. Following is the environment where this issue was seen (a large environment): SCO 2.3 FP1, iFix5 Regions Servers: 11 Availability Zones / Clusters: 100+ SCO Managed VMs: 4,000+ Total VMs: 20,000+
Local fix
Increase memory on CS2 to 24G
Problem summary
With the product deployed on a very large environment, the memory of the CS2 needs to be increased.
Problem conclusion
The doc page http://eden2.tivlab.austin.ibm.com:8310/help/topic/com.ibm.sco.d oc_2.3/c_sw_prereqs.html needs to be changed accordingly. The following NOTE will be added: Note: For large deployments, the Virtual Image Library component located on Central Server 2 will consume more memory. If the memory required exceeds the real memory of the system, the system will start heavy paging activity leading to high system CPU utilization, and ultimately the system becoming unresponsive. To resolve this issue, the recommendation is to increase memory to 24 GB for Central Server 2. For the change to take effect, Central Server 2 must be rebooted.
