Error description

  • There is a limit to the length of a URL that the Edge Components
Caching Proxy can handle. That limit is 4K. This will also
need to be taken into account when using Load Balancer's CBR
(Content Based Routing)plug-in in conjunction with Caching Proxy
NOTE: There is no limitation on the URL length, when using the
Edge Components Load Balancer product, however, there is a limit
on the entire HTTP header, it must be under 64K.
These specifications are valid on ALL versions of the prodcuts
    in question.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The URL in an HTTP request is limited to 4K bytes.

Problem conclusion

  • This is a fixed limitation and when using Caching Proxy by
itself or in conjunction with any other product, the incoming
URLs will be matched based upon the first 4KB. Any data after
the first 4K will be ignored.
