  The problem occured because there was a Program Tab (PT) order
  in the original data stream that immediately followed four
  blanks. NCF compressed the blanks by using a Repeat to Address
  (RA) order, and then placed the PT order immediately after the
  RA order. The PT order functions differently depending on
  whether it immediately follows another order. If it does not
  follow another order, PT erases text on the screen until the
  next field definition. If it immediately follows an order, it
  only causes the cursor to jump to the next field (without
  erasing the text on the screen). This is what caused the error
  message to remain on the screen.
  

Problem conclusion

• Ensure that Program Tab (X'05) orders are placed appropriately
  in data streams, since the order performs different functions
  depending on whether it immediately follows another order.
