Error description
TCP/IP SJISKANJI translation table is based on JIS78 code. By JIS83, some Kanji character's JIS codes were exchanged. TCP/IP provided JIS78KJ and JIS83KJ, but no SJIS translation table based on JIS83. Most PCs like OS/2 V4 and Windows 98 / NT use SJIS83 rather than SJIS78, so translation by MVS causes incorrect Kanji characters.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Communications Server * * for OS/390 Release 10 IP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SJISKANJI translation table is built * * using the CCSID 941 code page at the * * 1978 level. Some of the newer * * systems such as Windows 98 / NT uses * * the 1983 version of this code page. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The DBCS translation table for SJISKANJI, is shipped in the library 'tcpip.SEZAXLD2' member EZAKJBIN as executable object and the source in library 'tcpip.SEZADBCS' member EZAKJLAT. This table is based upon the 1978 version of the CCSID 941 code page. This is okay for some of the older PC operating systems, but the newer systems use the 1983 version of this code page. So some the code points are translated incorrectly. +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes. Comments
A new member of the source code library tcpip.SEZADBCX is being shipped with this APAR. The member name is EZAKJ941. This is an exact duplicate of EZAKJLAT except for the SJISKANJI tables. These tables SJISETA and SJISATE are now built at the 1995 level of CCSID 941. To use this table instead of the default tables refer to the steps detailed in Appendix A. "Using Translation Tables" in the following manual for information on how to create and use new translation tables. SC31872600 V2R10 OS/390 IBM Communications Server: IP Configuration Reference
