APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In a cluster with PowerHA 7.1 running and stable
    on all nodes, 'clRGinfo -a' fails as follows:
    # clRGinfo -a
    Cluster IPC error: The IPC handler function in the
     cluster manager on node <nodename> failed.
    
    The local clstrmgr.debug looks like:
    Mon Sep  9 13:27:09 clipc_rgactioninfo_func:
     getting resource group info for clArg1
    Mon Sep  9 13:27:09 clipc_rgactioninfo_func:
     group clArg1 has 2 nodes
    Mon Sep  9 13:27:09 clipc_rgactioninfo_func:
     RGPA information is not valid currently!
    Mon Sep  9 13:27:09 IpcHandle:
     return code from IPC handler function = -1
    Mon Sep  9 13:27:09 IpcHandle:
     ERROR: IPC function for IPC type 7 failed.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • In a cluster with PowerHA running and stable on all
    nodes, clRGinfo fails as follows:
    # clRGinfo -a
    Cluster IPC error: The IPC handler function in the
    cluster manager on node <nodename> failed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Modify the code to set the flags properly thereby eliminating
    error.
