APAR status

Error description

  • When installing a NIM client from a master that also has
an alternate NIM master defined, the following message is
displayed:
nim_rcmd: getaddrinfo: Hostname and service name not
   provided or found
0042-001 nimclient: processing error encountered on
   "master":
   0042-006 nimclient: (To_Master) rcmd Error 0

The message is not fatal, and the installation continues.
The message is generated because the client cannot update
the alternate master with its status because the
alternate's hostname cannot be resolved to an IP address.

Local fix

  • Ignore the messages, if no adverse affects are observed.
