Error appears when trying to apply Fix Pack to Local Analysis Repository in IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium

Troubleshooting


Problem

An error message appears when you try to apply the Local Analysis Repository Fix Pack 1 from within the Analyst's Notebook Premium 8.9.7 Fix Pack 3.

Symptom

The following error message appears:

"Error 2705.Invalid table: Directory; Could not be linked as tree."


Environment

You are using the English / French Release of IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium.

In order to verify that you are using said release you can follow these steps:

  • Click on the Windows Button
  • Click on Run...
  • Type regedit.exe and click OK
  • Go to 'HKey_Local_Machine\Software\wow6432Node\i2\Analysis Repository\Local\3'
  • Check the value for Build
  • If the value is "168" that means that you have the English / French release installed.

Diagnosing The Problem

On an English / French IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium 8.9.7 you would like to upgrade to the IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium 8.9.7 Fix Pack 3.

If you follow the recommended steps as shown in the Readme, the order of installation is as follows:

  • Run IBM_i2_Analysts_Notebook_8.9.7_Fix_Pack_2.exe. - It should install without problems.
  • Run IBM_i2_Analysis_Repository_Connector_8.9.7_Fix_Pack_3.exe. It should install without problems.
  • Run IBM_i2_Analysis_Repository_Tools_3.0.5_Fix_Pack_3.exe. It should install without problems.
  • Run IBM_i2_Local_Analysis_Repository_3.0.5_Fix_Pack_1.exe. It will give the error shown in the Symptom category.

Resolving The Problem

In order to resolve this problem you need the follow these steps:

  • Uninstall the IBM i2 Local Analysis Repository 3.0.5 from your machine
  • Go to Passport Advantage
  • Download IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium 8.9.7 Multi-Language Release
  • Install the IBM i2 Local Analysis Repository 3.0.5 from the Multi-Language Release
  • Install the IBM_i2_Local_Analysis_Repository_3.0.5_Fix_Pack_1.exe from the Analyst's Notebook Premium 8.9.7 Fix Pack 3.
  • The Fix Pack should now install without issues.
