Error description

  • Running NIMADM with caching might fail with error
    fshop_make: 0506-278 Big File file systems must have
    fragsize == 4096
    

Local fix

  • Use a customize image.data with NIMADM and use
    fragsize of 4096.
    

Problem summary

    * Systems running the 7100-02 Technology Level with the
    * bos.alt_disk_install.rte fileset below the 7.1.2.16 level.
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * Problem symptom is error:
    *
    * fshop_make: 0506-278 Big File file systems must have
    * fragsize == 4096
    *
    * when using nimadm cache file systems with a client jfs2 file
    * system with a block size less then 4096.
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:
    * Install APAR IV42183.
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • The correction is to not set the bigfile flag for jfs2 file
    systems and to create them as cache jfs2 file systems instead
    of converting to a cache jfs file system.
