IJ07941: CAA: CAA fails to start when many disks configured

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a CAA node attempts to start/join (e.g., after a
reboot or manually starting it via clmgr start), and
there
are many configured disk devices, it may fail due to the
cluster0 device not being configured.

The error message may be similar to:
Function not implemented clctrl -start|-stop: The
  local host is not part of the specified cluster
  <cluster name>
  lscluster: Cluster services are not active

Local fix

  • mkdev -l cluster0

Problem summary

  • If there are many disk devices configured, there is a
possibility that the CAA cluster fails to start.

Problem conclusion

  • Run mkdev -l cluster0 if CAA detects the repository disk was
registered with Storage Framework.
