Security Bulletin
Summary
By doing repeated requests, with sufficient load on the target system, an authenticated user might in certain situations assume another authenticated user's complete identity and multi-tenant authorizations, which might potentially result in a privilege escalation. Note that this issue is related to a bad interaction between eventlet and python-memcached that should be avoided if the calling process already monkey-patches "thread" to use eventlet. Only keystone middleware setups using auth_token with memcache are vulnerable.
Vulnerability Details
CVE ID: CVE-2014-0105
Description:
OpenStack Keystone might allow a remote authenticated attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, which is caused by an error in the auth_token middleware in python-keystoneclient. By flooding the system with requests, an attacker might exploit this vulnerability to assume the identity of another user and gain elevated privileges on the system.
