Error description

  • mmcheckquota could fail when node was a remote node and
    not
able to mount the file system in question, the current
    code
is not able to detect this condition.

    Reported in:
    GPFS 4.1.0.8

    Known Impact:
Command will show fail, but will only matter for nodes
that do not have the filesystem mounted. No impact.

    Command fails such as:
    /usr/lpp/mmfs/bin/mmcheckquota -v <FS>
    hps2: Start quota check
       1 % complete on Tue Jul 18 19:18:46 2017
       2 % complete on Tue Jul 18 19:19:05 2017
    98 % complete on Tue Jul 18 19:50:34 2017
      99 % complete on Tue Jul 18 19:50:56 2017
Finished scanning the inodes for hps2.
    Merging results from scan.
    hps2: During mmcheckquota processing, 2 node(s) failed.
It is recommended that mmcheckquota be repeated.
mmcheckquota: 6027-1639 Command failed. Examine previous
    error messages to determine cause.

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • mmcheckquota verbose output is not printed when client nodes
    failed during mmcheckquota run.

Problem conclusion

  • Even though node failures during mmcheckquota could
affect the accuracy of quota check result, print
the verbose output (report discrepancies between calculated
and recorded disk quotas) if -v option is requested.

Temporary fix
