MDS engine will not start. Error shown in .OUT file: java.net.BindException: Can't assign requested address

Troubleshooting


Problem

When starting the Master Data Engine, the process may fail. The following error may be shown in the .out file (produced by the Engine's jvm wrapper process): INFO | jvm 1 | 2014/04/12 22:30:13 | WrapperSimpleApp: Encountered an error running main: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'com.initiatesystems.hub.jmx.AuditedConnectorServerFactoryBean' defined in class path resource [engine.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.net.BindException: Can't assign requested address [...] INFO | jvm 1 | 2014/04/12 22:30:13 | Caused by: java.net.BindException: Can't assign requested address

Symptom

Engine will run fine until it is stopped, even if the belowmentioned condition occurs during runtime. The error is only evidenced upon an attempted restart of the engine.
