Error description

  • To Shutdown one System in a Sysplex, a customer typically
    quiesces all applications and subsystems on that System, then
    issues the "V XCF,sysname,OFF" and replies to the IXC371D
    message.  Usually, that's all that is required when there is an
    SFM policy active. However on some Systems (LPARs), you receive
    the IXC102A message and have to perform a System Reset from the
    HMC(SE), then reply DOWN.  Additionally, a Software dump shows
    that the microcode/hardware process of terminating I/O on the
    target system (which is part of the fencing function) is not
    responding. This problem is being addressed by the following
    tips:
