DataStage Parallel Jobs on Windows fail to start or show random failures

Troubleshooting


Problem

InfoSphere Information Server DataStage Parallel Jobs are failing to start or show random failures or hangs. However, running parallel jobs that have already started are finishing normally.

Symptom

The symptoms for this issue are varied, intermittent, and may not always occur at the same time. Some of the most common symptoms are:

  • New jobs fail to start while running jobs continue to run without problems
  • Jobs hang intermittently
  • Other Windows applications are unable to start
  • MKS toolkit errors with fork() error message in the logs
