Error description

  • SQL/DS VSE V3R4M0 supports DRDA application server functions
using optionally installable code. SQL/DS with the optional code
installed will require about 1 Mbytes of additional virtual
storage to operate, even if the DRDA functions were not invoked.
For this reason, it is recommended in the SQL/DS Installation
manual that the optional code should be installed only when the
DRDA functions are needed. This is accomplished by executing job
control member ARIS342D to include the DRDA support code into
    the RDS component.
    -
To prevent customers from inadvertently including the DRDA
support code through PTFs, all PTFs involving the RDS component
will link edit the RDS component without the DRDA support code.
Customers using the DRDA functions must re-execute job control
member ARIS342D after applying a PTF involving the RDS
component. This extra step will be needed even if the PTF
    were identified as DRDA-only.
    -
The prologue and covering letter for such PTFs will have a
reminder for DRDA installations to re-execute job member
ARIS342D. In addition, a similar reminder in the form of JCL
comment lines will be displayed on the VSE system console at the
end of the PTF application job step.
