Error description
The purpose of this informational APAR is to document the compatibility of the various NCP related products that are marketed in the U.S.. Also, the announced END-OF-CURRENCY (EOC) (END-OF-SERVICE (EOS)) dates are provided for planning purposes. This is NOT meant to be the definitive documentation on compatibility or EOC, but rather, a quick reference for anyone with access to RETAIN. The official method of determining compatibility and EOC is to review the announce- ment letters and HONE updates. A good place to find more detailed information on the IBM Networking Products is in the NETWORK PRODUCTS REFERENCE, GX28-8002. You may use the NCP EOC matrix to determine the EOC of these NCP related products. EMULATOR PROGRAM (EP) EP End-of-Currency information EP EOC There are NO current plans to end currency on EP releases that are supported as of 01/01/2001. Support for the EP products will continue as long as the NCP version/release they are related with are supported. 12/10/2009 3745 and 3746 Communication Controllers and NCP Software IBM has previously stated that it has no plans to end service for the 3745 and 3746 Communications Controllers before 2010. In line with this statement, IBM announced end of service for these products in Japan and countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as of December 31, 2010. Service for these products will continue in the Americas and Asia Pacific until further notice. IBM recommends customers that use the 3745 and 3746 Communication Controllers in these geographies develop migration plans consistent with IBM?s strategic direction, which is to migrate to the Communication Controller for Linux. NCP support: IBM intends to support and maintain ACF/NCP and associated software products (EP, NPSI, NTuneMon) beyond the 3745 and 3746 product support dates and reminds its customers that monthly license fees for these software products remain in effect. All statements regarding IBM's future direction or intent are subject to change or withdrawal without notice, and represent goals and objectives only. When IBM announces end of service for these products, all existing 3745 and 3746 service contracts will be honored.
