Symptom

When the license server fails to start, you see following messages in the lmgrd.log file:

(lmgrd) Since this is an unknown status, license server
(lmgrd) manager (lmgrd) will attempt to re-start the vendor daemon."

Cause

The lmgrd daemon is unable to locate the VENDOR daemon.

Resolving The Problem

Perform the following steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Open the license file using any text editor.

  2. Edit the VENDOR ibmratl line and specify the path to the ibmratl daemon, as shown below
    • Linux:

      VENDOR ibmratl /opt/IBM/RationalRLKS/bin/ibmratl
    • Windows:

      VENDOR ibmratl "C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalRLKS\common\ibmratl.exe"

  3. Save the changes to license file and close the editor.

  4. Restart the license server.
