IBM Systems Director (ISD) documentation does not contain information about how to stop, start, and to check the status of the Common agent on Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) systems.

Problem summary
Commands to stop, start, and to check the status of the Common agent on VIOS are not documented in the ISD Information Center. In addition to the steps mentioned to restart the Common Agent for the AIX, IBM i, Linux and Windows operating systems in the ISD information center topic on 'Managing agents -> Restarting agents -> Restarting Common Agents', the documentation will show the commands for VIOS as well. Following are the sample of how this information may appear in the ISD Information Center. 1. Stop the Common Agent processes. - If you are running VIOS, run the following command to enter the root environment (unrestricted shell). oem_setup_env type the following command in the root environment and press Enter: /opt/ibm/director/agent/bin/stopagent_vios Note: This command will stop Common Agent, Platform Agent, and SLP. But it will not stop cimserver. Stop the cimserver by cimserver -s 2. Start the Common Agent processes. -If you are running VIOS, run the following command to enter the root environment (unrestricted shell). oem_setup_env type the following command in the root environment and press Enter: /opt/ibm/director/agent/bin/startagent_vios Note: This command will start the Common Agent, Platform Agent, CIM, and SLP 3.Obtain the status of Common Agent to ensure that it started successfully. If you are running VIOS, run the following command to enter the root environment (unrestricted shell). oem_setup_env type the following command in the root environment and press Enter: /opt/ibm/director/agent/runtime/agent/bin/endpoint.sh status Platforms: VIOS Versions: IBM Systems Director 6.3.2x
