Error description

  • The VIOS CIM provider can sometimes hang when processing
fcport class operations. This is usually after several tries
of fcport class operations and when this happens, it can
be seen that the HBA API library is hung on a fork/exec.

  • The VIOS CIM provider can sometimes hang when processing
fcport class operations. This is usually after several tries
of fcport class operations and when this happens, it can
be seen that the HBA API library is hung on a fork/exec.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The API that is used by the HBA API library to retrieve
adapter information is not thread-safe. The solution is to use
a thread-safe 'popen' mechanism for retrieving the
adapter information.
